Bulk register new users (easiest way of adding users)

• BulkRegistration.
• Update SitePermissions (i.e., add new users to PolarGroup or KuoGroup for view/edit access to the various webs.)

Change existing login name (e.g., from "KiWonYoon" to "kiwon"), manually modify:

• TWikiUsers topic
• /twiki/data/.htpasswd entry on server

Permanently delete a web (there is no web interface for this)

• Find better search plugin and install.

Admin Log (only for Twiki notes, system notes go here: Clk1fAdminNotes)

• Backed up twiki on clk-1d using BackupRestorePlugin and unpacked on clk-1f.
• Also copied over clk-1d:/home/polar/twiki/data/.htpasswd to clk-1f:/home/webdir/twiki/data/.

• This twiki features a specially hacked batch upload, and LatexModePlugin

• Added a script to root's crontab on clk-1d that backs up the polar directory and the polar-drawings svn archive at 2200hrs daily to /media/disk-1. The script is /root/polar_backup.sh

• Attempted installation of Image Gallery Plugin
• Unzipped files, and noticed that ownership for several directories isn't apache:apache. Fixed the important directories; but perhaps this is the reason that kinosearch and other plugins didn't work?
• This plugin requires the perl interface for Image Magick. Instructions here.
• However, failed to install libjpeg-devel and libpng-devel. yum install not supported for our outdated OS, I believe, though I may be wrong. Didn't spend time figuring out how to do it. These are prereqs for Image Magick.

• Modified TWikiPreferences to get rid of TWiki logo and copyright notices site-wide.

• Created Kuo Group web. Viewable/editable only by KuoGroup members. Let's reserve Main web for system/admin uses only, as it holds site-wide preferences, user/group definitions, etc.
• SitePermissions changed so only TWiki and Main webs are viewable for unregistered users, and users must belong to a user group to edit appropriate webs. Had to add TWikiRegistrationAgent to the Main web edit permission; new user registration confirm process fails otherwise.
• Restarted sendmail on clk-1d with % sendmail -bd -q10s as root. Note this should be done every time clk-1d is rebooted.

• Configured to update index on all saves. If this slows down the system, we'll have to set up a cron job instead. More details at SearchEngineKinoSearchAddOn#Indexing
• Added fileextns indexed by SearchEngineKinoSearchAddOn at TWikiPreferences.
• Grr.. ./kinoindex not working. Tired. Will look into this later.

• Created PolarGroup. Changed WebPreferences of various webs (via SitePermissions) so:
  • No access unless logged in, either as a "named" user or as PolarGuest.
  • PolarGuest only has read access; PolarGroup members have both read/write access to Main and BICEP3 webs.
• Installed ActionTrackerPlugin for action items, to-do lists, etc. (As a pre-requisite, updated CPAN module (lengthy...) and installed Time::ParseDate into local Perl library.)
• Installed LatexModePlugin. (Pre-requisite: installed CPAN Image::Info.) — BROKEN; DISABLED FOR NOW

  • New registrants specify the login name (e.g., "polar").

• Created BICEP3 web. Note there is no web admin interface for permanently deleting webs. See http://it-nonwhizzos.blogspot.com/2010/03/deleting-twiki-web.html.
• Created PolarGuest user with login name "polar" and same passwd as old clk-1d website.
